Book Review: A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Diana is the daughter of a powerful witch but since her parents were killed she has never used magic, until the day a magical book appears in the library.  There she meets a vampire who could be after the book known as Ashmole 782.   As witches, daemons, and vampires search for this book that could be the secret to how creatures like them exist Diana must ally with a vampire and perhaps betray her kind even as unknowable powers are exploding beyond her control.  With a mix of modern and ancient cultures A Discovery of Witches will keep you up waiting to find out what will happen to an inexperienced witch and a meddling vampire.

A Discovery of Witches was a book that I simply could not put down.  I had to know what would happen to Diana as she dealt with Matthew de Clermont and the forces after the Ashmole 782.  I was further intrigued when her powers began to rise and it was discovered that Diana was not all that she seems.  I would highly reccommend this book to anyone and everyone.
